St.Thomas CFCBR Project

Rawalpindi has the oldest leprosy hospital in the region. Set up in 1904 by the British Leprosy Mission , the hospital is located in what is now a congested part of the city. At the time of establishment of the hospital, it was a deserted place in the outskirts of the city. The hospital was the brainchild of an American professor, Dr R. R. Stewart , who used to teach at the local Gordon College of the US missionaries. The programme deals with tuberculosis, skin problems, blindn ess, psychotherapy and rehabilitation. In Pakistan, 1,000 new leprosy cases are discovered annually. It may be noted here that leprosy is one of the least contagious of the contagious diseases in the world. St. Thomas CFCBR staff visited and learnt about the hospital activities and facilities available to the patients. Dr. Chris made a presentation about the Leprosy Hospital Rawalpindi . It was a great addition to the knowledge of CFCBR staff.

Child Labor and Child Rights

Child Labor and Child Rights A large chunk of children engaged in child labor is in the nonformal sector, such as children working as domestic helpers, beggers, working on workshops, carpet weaving, shop, various markets, washing cars, etc. A discussion was held with the panel of differently able children regd. with the project regarding the above mention subject. Children actively participated and shared their points of view about the rights, the children who are working in different fields where most of them are invisible. They discussed their right to proper living, education, food, health, sports, indoor, outdoor games/activities, and marriages at the right age. Panel children and the audience children were highly proud to be part of the discussion. All issues which they shared were written and recorded.

May ALL MIGHTY GOD have MERCY on whole world, protect , keep safe and healthy all the medical and paramedical staff around the world. Heal our home land, Be with the people who are suffering in hospitals and home. Take away all the worries stress and restlessness. Give peace to all people and help them to take-care of themselves and others. we prayer for all human beings. Amen
