International Midwives Day Celebration

International Day of the Midwives was first celebrated on May 5th 1991, and has since been observed in over 50 nations around the world. The idea is to having a day to recognize and honor midwives. Midwives – and people with midwifery skills – are the main caregivers for women and their newborns during pregnancy, labor, and childbirth and in the post-delivery period. Skilled midwives are the difference between life and death for hundreds of thousands of women and infants every year. A get together for Midwives was organized in all the centers of St. Thomas C.B.R Project. Who are working in slums and areas lacking health facilities in and around Islamabad to appreciate, encourage and hear their opinion and concern about the women and children of their work areas.
